My Style: Lace is More (Giveaway Opportunity!!!)

Today's Look:  is all about lace!  This season, lace in white, lace in pastels, and, of course, lace in black are a few of the hottest trends.  I adore this crocheted lace skirt from 9th & Elm, designed by Sugar Lips.  Quality and beauty—my favorite pairing!  Also, the skirt arrived quickly and wrapped nicely, so I was very impressed by 9th & Elm.  For the styling, I added an incredible, striped black and white crop from Nordstrom, complete with stitched daisies on the back, along with Steve Madden white platform sandals.  As you can tell from my sassy expressions, this pretty outfit gave me confidence and loads of attitude.  And for my lovely readers, 9th & Elm is offering five--I repeat 5--$100 gift cards as a generous giveaway.  Please enter below to win one of the $100 gift cards before the contest ends on July 8th.  I wish for you a beautiful week and I hope your summer is fantastic! Xoxo, Shelly

Fashion Tip:  I have been searching for oversized sunglasses with the scrolled side detailing.  When I was vacationing in California recently, I finally found a pair I liked at a small shop in Venice Beach.  Adding interesting detail through a pair of sunnies is a great way to show you have style.

As mentioned above, I have an exciting giveaway opportunity for you all in which 9th & Elm (handmade and independent designs) is awarding five $100 gift cards to use on their website!  Anyone can enter through the widget below.  Contest ends July 8th.  Feel free to read more details here: http://9thelm.com/blog/500-giveaway/.

My Style: Velours Rouge

Today's Look:  was styled with one of the hottest trends in mind: 90's grunge.  First, I started with this stunning red crushed velvet dress from Immediate Fashion Company.  The ankle length hem and spaghetti straps reminded me so much of 1990's styling which totally called for platform sandals and a choker.  To update the staple pieces of the classic ensemble, I wore leather platforms with nice thick straps and a layered choker made of leather with a silver-plated, bedazzled bead; back in the '90s, platform flip flops and plastic chokers were all the rage.  I styled the dress, sandals, and necklace with a skull lace kimono, multiple rings, a silver cuff bracelet, and a jewelry hair clip from Floaters, which gave the look a slightly more bohemian vibe.  For any readers who may have missed my previous post featuring Immediate Fashion Company, they recently opened a new location at 2000 East Broadway Boulevard in Tucson, Arizona!  I definitely recommend giving them a look and anyone can shop their online store at http://www.immediatefashioncompany.com/.  Originally based in California, the store has such friendly customer service, kind owners, and darling clothes.   It's so exciting to see them expanding, and I can't wait to visit their Tucson store this summer!

Fashion Tip:  I was so excited to showcase my first Floaters's hair accessory in this post, because I truly think they are the new "it" accessory.  Anyone else remember when everyone came back to school after summer vacation with a feather weaved into their hair or the dyed neon color hair strip fad?  Well, Floaters are way better than both of those, because they can easily be clipped on or off of your hair, they come in all different designs and lengths, and they are beautiful jewelry.  If you want to start a new trend at your school or in your town, then get yours ASAP at http://www.hairfloaters.com/.

Last but not least, I tried something new this week!  To show you how Floaters's hair accessories work, I made a short video demonstrating how easy the hair jewelry can be clipped on and off.  It's a little over a minute, so short and sweet.  Check it out below :)

Product Review: Sunset 45's "The Little Luxuries Box"

This month I had the privilege of collaborating with Sunset 45 and reviewing their June "Little Luxuries Box".  The Little Luxuries Box is a box filled with fashion and beauty products worth $100+ that arrives at your doorstep once a month for a subscription price of only $30/mo plus $5 shipping.  Each month's box is different and unique.  I was so excited with the June 2014 box I received, which was inspired by one of the latest runway trends: tribal.

The box included a gorgeous "Nona" necklace, "Jinji" earrings, OPI Nail Lacquer in "Dating a Royal", NYX Butter Lipstick in "Hot Tamale", Hello Waffle blush and coupon, and 7th Heaven Naturals mask!  WOW, right?  It definitely made my day when my box arrived.  The necklace and earrings are truly beautiful pieces of jewelry and great quality.  I am excited to style the necklace in an upcoming post; if you keep scrolling you will see how I styled the earrings, lipstick, nail polish, and blush.  The nail polish color is a bold royal blue and looks great with just two coats.  The lipstick is one of my faves from the box!  The bright orange color is a new addition to my lipstick collection and feels soft on the lips.  The blush is a sweet, light pink that applies nicely on the cheeks and creates a perfect tint of color.  Last but not least, the mask was wonderful.  As a blogger, I am very consistent and careful with my skincare.  I enjoyed trying the new mask.  It didn't irritate my skin (which is rare because I have very sensitive skin) and my face felt very smooth after.

Overall, I give Sunset 45's "The Little Luxuries Box" an A+!  The products are of true quality and the customer service is so friendly.  The packaging and presentation were professional and appealing. If you are thinking of subscribing or want to purchase a box for one month to try it out, click here.  I always love receiving goodies in the mail, so if you're like me, you'll LOVE what Sunset 45 offers.

My Style: Anchors Aweigh

Today's Look:  was taken on beautiful Santa Monica Beach in California.  I just spent three glorious weeks in Cali and visited Santa Monica Beach, Venice Beach, Marina del Rey, Beverly Hills, and Universal Studios.  I highly recommend enjoying all that southern Cal has to offer.  Visiting these places, you get the beauty of Santa Monica, the craziness of Venice Beach, the sophistication of Marina del Rey, the ritz of 90210, and the thrills of Universal Studios.  For a warm day in Santa Monica, I started styling this outfit with a darling, dark blue, cinched-bow crop top.  I added a lace mini shirt and navy flips.  For accessories, I wore an anchor pendant to add a little seashore motif.  Man, I already miss the ocean and I’ve only been home one day!  Anyway, I hope you’re having a wonderful summer day! Xoxo, Shelly
